President of COMPASS Shri V.K.Bhandari during 2003-04 had given more stress on value addition to our existing business. Our strength on value addition can be on service, manufacturing activities, solution provider, retailing or distribution.

In the year 2003-2004
Sept 2003: Exhibition COMPASS 2004 access to the digital world. It was held at Maidan with more than 300 participants, held in 3 AC hangars. The area covered including hanger was approx. 1,30,000 sq.ft. The first time exhibition held in association and support of Information and Technology Department, Government of West Bengal. LG Electronics sponsored the mega event COMPASS 2004. More than 2.5 lacs person were visited the exhibition and was well covered by print and visual media.

Award Nite : Award Nite was sponsored by Seagate and held at Oberoi Grand hotel, Kolkata. Awards based on the basis of in depth survey conducted by IMRB one of the best market research agency in India. This time award not restricted to kolkata and compass member but to the whole Eastern India. Award was given to leading Channel partner from Cuttak, Guwahati, Patna, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar etc.

Used and Discounted PC Show organised on a grand scale. 18 participants took 28 stalls. The show attracted around 30,000 visitors.

Seminar and Workshop held at Kala Mandir on "How to increase Profitability and Credit Management". Leading members from the industry and expert speakers participated in the seminar. The seminar were showm live in association with the leading website YAHOO.

COMPASS LIBRARY has been started at COMPASS office to give better facilities to the members.

COMPASS Handling Charges: National Destributors introduce handling charges of Rs.3/- per kg on all materials invoiced on the channel partner. COMPASS intervened into the matter and later chrages was abolished. National Distributor also refunded the charges.

Social Commitments: One more center has been inaugurated for the Hearing Impaired youths at Salt Lake, Kolkata in association with Heart to Heart (NGO). Also finalised a new center at Domjur for a Girls School in association with Rotary Club.

COMPASS and the Government: Union Govt. in its Budget 2004 slashed Duty and tax on CPU. Import become cheaper. COMPASS worked closely with national bodies like: MAIT.

Consultant on Service Tax: Service Tax is levied on AMC and services. COMPASS to keep the members updated have retained an Ex. Excise Deept Supdt., to clarify their problems in Service Tax.

COMPASS service to members: We circulated regular circulars to members to inform about major changes in tax. The website include chat Forum for members and Executive Committee Members, Regular Information on Tenders were publised in website. COMPASS website has become popular and getting 400 unique visitors per day.

COMPASS joined as affiliated member of Confederation of Indian Industry & FOSMI.

COMPASS MEMBERSHIP: We inducted 27 new members - 19 Life member and 8 Annual Members.

COMPASS Membership spread across various fields of IT activity center.
